Wilhelmina Barns-Graham in Lanzarote
To accompany the Belgrave Gallery exhibition A Distant Isle – Wilhelmina Barns-Graham in Lanzarote, the Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust has published a small e-handbook which takes the reader on a tour of the island as pertains to the artworks in the exhibition. This booklet is intended to be seen in conjunction with the main exhibition catalogue that the Belgrave Gallery published, to provide further context to this remarkable and substantial body of work that Willie made between 1989 and 1993.
The tour starts at the Parque Nacional de Timanfaya that sits centrally on the island’s west coast, and swings through the adjacent La Geria region to head north, via Masdache, San Bartlome, Guatiza and Tabayesco, to Orzola, the most northern community, before turning south again to Maguez, completing the circuit near La Caleta de Famara on the north west shore, to the north of the Parque Nacional.
