Modern Scottish Women Artists show opens at SNGMA
A successful launch at Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art
The Private View to mark the opening of the exhibition Modern Scottish Women Painters and Sculptors 1885-1965 was a great success. The guest of honour was Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon; who better to open this exhibition than Scotland’s leading woman? MSWP&S has already garnered a good number of positive critical reviews in the Press as well as featuring as one the UK’s must see shows. The curator, Alice Strang, who also happens to be one of our trustees, was interviewed on BBC Radio Scotland last week, and images from the show can be seen on the BBC web site. There is considerable interest in the exhibition and it is very fortuitous that the Barns-Graham Charitable Trust is sponsoring it along with a sorority of women across Scotland. The Trust’s profile is being presented to new audiences.
